Himalaya Wellness, a global pharmaceutical company, has marked the beginning of construction for its advanced herbal pharmaceutical factory in Dubai Industrial City. The Emirates Development Bank (EDB), an essential contributor to the UAE’s economic development, has made this venture possible through funding.
The factory is set to produce tablets, capsules, liquid orals, and ointments. This production expansion will significantly enhance the company’s presence within the TECOM Group PJSC’s ecosystem in Dubai. Dubai Industrial City, a prominent manufacturing and logistics district in the region, will play a pivotal role in this expansion.
The first phase of the factory, covering a 225,000 sq. ft. area, will generate employment opportunities for 250 professionals. The factory, valued at $54.4 million (AED 200 million), will have an annual production capacity of 3 billion tablets, 15 million syrup bottles, and three million units of ointment, designed to meet global demand until 2030.
Himalaya Wellness has dedicated its new facility to adhere to international quality and safety standards. This includes the European Medicine Agency’s GMP guidelines and the regulations of the local Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Furthermore, The company plans to collaborate closely with the Dubai Science Park Centre. This collaboration aims to enhance new product development, ensure product stability, facilitate scale-up activities, and enable technology transfer. It aims to reinforce its commitment to Dubai and TECOM Group’s ecosystem.
