The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) has received a Gold Certification of Recognition from the Western Cape Government Department of Health and Wellness for excellence in municipal health services and technological advancement during the 2025/26 financial year.

According to Executive Mayor Marais Kruger, the recognition highlights GRDMโs leadership in municipal health innovation and climate-responsive service delivery.
GRDM achieved an impressive score of 97.8%, while the Municipal Health, Waste Management and Air Quality Unit recorded 98.5% for its municipal health initiatives and climate change programmes.

The City of Cape Town received the Silver Recognition Certificate, while the West Coast District Municipality was awarded Bronze.
Mayor Kruger congratulated the Community Services Department, municipal leadership, environmental health practitioners, and staff for their professionalism, innovation, and commitment to improving public health services across the region.
