Atlanta- December 2023- Emory University Hospital has concluded its nationwide search for a new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) by appointing Robert Boesch, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, to the role. Boesch will assume his position on February 5, 2024.
In addition to overseeing nursing at Emory University Hospital, Boesch will also serve as CNO for Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital, Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods, and Emory University Hospital at Smyrna—hospitals falling under the Emory University Hospital operating unit.
Moreover, Described as a dynamic and passionate nursing leader, Boesch brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as CNO for Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he oversaw Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital. Before that, he spent 13 years at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, holding key positions in acute care nursing services and surgical services.

Boesch, a registered nurse with a background in clinical care, received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Catholic University of America and earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Penn State University.
“Rob’s current and past nursing leadership roles and foundation in clinical care are instrumental as he joins the leadership team at Emory University Hospital,” says Matt Wain, president of the Emory Healthcare University Hospital Division, a new system structure that includes Emory University Hospital. “He is well positioned to lead our nursing workforce.”
However, Boesch’s involvement in the broader nursing community includes participation in the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) and serving as president-elect of the Virginia Organization of Nurse Leaders (VONL).

Boesch succeeds Nancye Feistritzer, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, in the Emory University Hospital CNO role. Feistritzer transitioned to the position of Vice President of the Center for Care Delivery and Innovation at Emory Healthcare in June of this year.
