American Hospital Dubai has acquired the next-generation da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system from Intuitive through an agreement with Al Naghi Medical, expanding the hospitalโ€™s existing robotic surgery capabilities.

The new system joins the hospitalโ€™s da Vinci Xi and da Vinci SP (Single Port) platforms, with the latter previously introduced as the first da Vinci SP system in the Middle East. The expanded portfolio is expected to support a wider range of minimally invasive procedures across multiple surgical specialties.

The da Vinci 5 incorporates more than 150 system enhancements, including Force Feedback technology designed to provide surgeons with a greater sense of the pressure applied to tissue during procedures. The platform also features higher-resolution, three-dimensional imaging and increased computing capacity, alongside an updated surgeon console designed to improve ergonomics.

โ€œAmerican Hospital Dubai is committed to investing in technologies that elevate patient care and surgical excellence,โ€ said Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai. โ€œThe acquisition of the da Vinci 5 system reflects our strategic vision to remain a regional leader in robotic surgery while expanding our capabilities to perform increasingly complex and delicate procedures with the highest levels of precision and safety.โ€

Mona Qaisi of Al Naghi Medical said the company was proud to partner with Intuitive and American Hospital Dubai to introduce the da Vinci 5 system. โ€œThis collaboration reflects a shared mission to advance robotic surgery in the Middle East and to support institutions that are setting new standards in surgical care,โ€ she emphasised.

The acquisition forms part of the hospitalโ€™s ongoing investment in robotic-assisted surgery and advanced medical technology. Through its collaboration with Intuitive and Al Naghi Medical, the hospital aims to further develop its capabilities in precision surgery and provide access to newer robotic technologies in the region.
