Izmir, Turkey- January 2024- As İzmir City Hospital approaches 60 days of operation, Fahrettin Koca, Turkey’s health minister, provided an important update on the hospital’s development. A major medical accomplishment was declared by Minister Koca: the hospital’s first Bionic Ear Surgery was completed successfully.
In a statement, Minister Koca said “The first Bionic Ear Surgery was successfully performed in Izmir City Hospital. Cochlear Implantation (Bionic Ear) surgery was performed on the left ear of a 13-year-old patient with congenital hearing loss. Thanks to the bionic ear device surgically placed using a microscope, the patient will be able to hear with both ears. We wish the patient a quick recovery and congratulate the team.”
