In a landmark initiative blending healthcare, philanthropy, and community development, the Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has unveiled the Awqaf Abu Dhabi, Community Centre, a new AED50 million venture that marks the launch of the Life Endowment campaign. The initiative aims to secure long-term healthcare support for patients with chronic diseases who are unable to afford ongoing treatment.

The campaign, launched in partnership with the Department of Health โ€“ Abu Dhabi, is framed under the slogan “With You For Life”, reflecting a deep commitment to the UAEโ€™s Year of the Community and its values of compassion, giving, and solidarity.

Set in Abu Dhabi City, the multipurpose community centre will serve as a dynamic space combining retail, cultural, and recreational experiences, all designed to not only energize the local economy and tourism but also raise public awareness about the power of endowments in supporting societal wellbeing.

โ€œThis project is about more than just infrastructure, itโ€™s about impact,โ€ said H.E. Abdulhamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi. โ€œThe Community Centre is a model of how we can generate sustainable returns to fund healthcare needs, particularly for those living with chronic conditions who lack access to consistent treatment.โ€

Chronic diseases, ranging from diabetes to cardiovascular disorders, are among the most pressing long-term healthcare challenges globally and regionally. The Life Endowment campaign offers an innovative solution: creating an ongoing revenue stream from community-based investments that directly supports treatment costs, medication access, and mental health services.

The new facility is expected to create job opportunities, repurpose underutilized land, and become a beacon of social cohesion, all while strengthening Abu Dhabiโ€™s reputation as a forward-thinking, inclusive city.

Key Campaign Goals:

Ensure continuous healthcare access for financially vulnerable patients.

Strengthen Abu Dhabiโ€™s healthcare infrastructure to face future challenges.

Promote the UAEโ€™s culture of humanitarianism and collective responsibility.

Establish a lasting source of funding through community investment.

Saeed emphasized that this is just the beginning of a wider portfolio of endowment-driven projects planned under the campaign. โ€œWe invite the entire community to be part of this legacy,โ€ he said. โ€œTogether, we can turn charitable investments into lasting impact.โ€

Summary:
Awqaf Abu Dhabi has launched the AED50 million Awqaf Abu Dhabi โ€“ Community Centre as the first project under its Life Endowment campaign. Developed in collaboration with the Department of Health โ€“ Abu Dhabi, the initiative aims to sustainably support chronic disease patients through a combination of community investment and healthcare funding. The centre will serve as a cultural, retail, and entertainment hub while generating endowment returns to fund treatment, medication, and mental health services for vulnerable patients. The campaign emphasizes social solidarity, healthcare sustainability, and economic empowerment in line with the UAEโ€™s Year of the Community.
