January 2025- As wildfires ravage Los Angeles, Americares has initiated a rapid response to restore health services and address urgent medical needs in affected communities.
The Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires have scorched over 28,000 acres, leaving a trail of destruction that includes homes, businesses, and the displacement of tens of thousands of residents. Smoke from the fires has led to hazardous air quality levels across Los Angeles County, as indicated by the Environmental Protection Agency’s air quality index.
In response, Americares is mobilizing essential supplies, including medicines, medical equipment, hygiene kits, and first aid items, to support impacted communities. The health-focused relief organization has extended its assistance to more than 70 partner health facilities situated in the fire-affected areas.
The organization remains committed to ensuring that health services remain accessible during this crisis, emphasizing the critical need for rapid medical relief amidst the ongoing devastation.

The organization is also prepared to provide emergency funding to help restore health services for low-income and uninsured residents in affected communities.
