Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Neptune Medical are conducting one of the first clinical studies in Abu Dhabi to evaluate robotic colonoscopy and AI-assisted polyp detection, with support from the Department of Health โ Abu Dhabi (DoH).
Highlighted at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026, the CARE-UAE study enrolled 25 patients undergoing screening, diagnostic or surveillance colonoscopy between 15 and 23 October. It marks the first clinical evaluation of Neptune Medicalโs Triton Robotic Endoscopy System in the Middle East.
The study will assess the systemโs navigation and shape-tracking capabilities, including its ability to guide the endoscope through the colon and reach the caecum, a key indicator of examination completeness. Researchers will also collect data using a separate AI-assisted polyp detection platform, supporting the development of potential future integrations into Triton systems.
Dr. Asma Ibrahim Al Mannaei, Executive Director of the Health Life Sciences Sector at the Department of Health โ Abu Dhabi said: ” Abu Dhabi’s role is to ensure that emerging medical technologies are evaluated rigorously, responsibly and with patient safety at the centre. CARE-UAE shows how our healthcare infrastructure, specialist clinical expertise and regulatory oversight can contribute to international research while building evidence in a local clinical setting. By enabling studies like this, we aim to help clinicians understand where robotic technologies can add value, with patient safety and robust clinical evidence guiding decisions on their use.”

Dr. Georges-Pascal Haber, Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, said: “At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, we are pioneering healthcare innovation to improve lives worldwide. Building on the UAEโs leadership in artificial intelligence and technology, this partnership combines clinical expertise with advanced technology to transform colorectal cancer screening and prevention. Our ambition is clear: to create solutions in Abu Dhabi that set new standards of care across the globe.”
Alex Tilson, Founder and CEO of Neptune Medical, said: โCARE 1, CARE 2, and our recent FDA clearance are important milestones in bringing Triton to patients globally. CARE-UAE, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and with support from the Department of Health โ Abu Dhabi, will also generate real-world data on AI-assisted polyp detection, a capability we see as central to the next generation of Triton systems.โ

The findings are expected to contribute to the evidence base for robotic endoscopy and inform further research into technologies that could support earlier detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.
