Surgical Science has launched Aeris, a new interactive ultrasound simulation technology designed to enable point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training on people, manikins, or any surface without tags, cameras, optical tracking, or attached hardware.
Aeris allows learners to practise probe movements across the chest, abdomen and pelvis while instructors simulate different clinical conditions in real time. The system is designed to make high-fidelity ultrasound training more flexible and accessible beyond traditional simulation labs.

“POCUS is used in nearly every specialty in medicine, but training quality has not kept pace,” said Tom Englund, CEO of Surgical Science. “Using Aeris, any room becomes a training room, and any body becomes a patient with real clinical scenarios, no tags, cameras, or headsets required. This isn’t the next version of ultrasound training. It’s the first simulation product to deliver freely moving, full-body ultrasound simulation on any surface.”
The technology launches with pathology-focused training for the chest, abdomen and pelvis, with future applications planned for OBGYN, neonatal, paediatric and interventional ultrasound. Orders from US customers are expected to open in Q4 2026.
