Shields Health and GE HealthCare are expanding access to advanced MRI technology across Shields Health’s New England network, with AI and deep learning solutions being introduced across its clinical imaging fleet.
The initiative includes the implementation of 10 advanced MRI systems with on-device AI applications, while several existing systems will receive software upgrades featuring AI and deep learning capabilities.
The majority of Shields Health’s MRI fleet will be equipped with technologies including AIR™ Recon DL and Sonic™ DL for 3D, designed to support faster scans, high-quality diagnostic images and improved workflow efficiency.

In December 2025, Shields Health became the first provider globally to use Sonic™ DL for 3D clinically at its Framingham, Massachusetts centre. The technology can enable MRI scans up to 86% faster while supporting enhanced image resolution.
