Lilly and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore new approaches to managing obesity and Alzheimer’s disease through artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and advanced clinical care. The agreement was signed during BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego.

The partnership will explore establishing an AI-enabled obesity and cardiometabolic care model tailored to the Abu Dhabi population, combining Lilly’s expertise in metabolic diseases with the emirate’s population health data to support predictive risk assessment and personalized treatment.

A second key focus is the development of a world-class Alzheimer’s Disease Centre of Excellence, aimed at improving early detection, biomarker-based diagnosis, digital cognitive screening, and access to the latest disease-modifying therapies through integrated care pathways.

Leena Aziz said “Lilly is honored to partner with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi on initiatives that reflects a powerful alignment between Abu Dhabi’s intelligent life sciences ecosystem and Lilly’s mission to unite caring with discovery to make life better for people. Together, we are advancing a model of care that brings together AI, population health insights, clinical excellence and breakthrough science to address two of the region’s most urgent health challenges: obesity and Alzheimer’s disease. As a trusted partner in the UAE’s healthcare journey, Lilly is committed to supporting the country’s ambitions to build a more predictive, personalized and innovative health system that delivers meaningful impact for patients and communities.”

The collaboration builds on Abu Dhabi’s precision medicine ecosystem and supports its ambition to become a global life sciences hub by accelerating healthcare innovation and improving outcomes for patients with chronic and neurodegenerative diseases.
