INDIANAPOLIS – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield parent company announced today the closing of its acquisition of Indiana University Health Plans (“IU Health Plans”), a managed care organization created by Indiana University Health (“IU Health”).
IU Health Plans is an established managed care plan known for its local brand awareness, community involvement, high-touch customer service, and extensive product offerings. It has continued to earn high-quality scores in its operating region and is committed to community health, well-being and high-quality care for each of its members.

The acquisition of IU Health Plans supports Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield parent company’s whole-health strategy and will continue to support members, families, and communities across the entire care journey – connecting them to the care, support, and resources they need to lead healthier lives.
IU Health Plans offers Medicare Advantage plans in 36 counties with 19,000 members and Fully-Insured Commercial plans for employers with 9,600 members. IU Health Plans has more than 160 Indiana-based team members. IU Health Plans will now operate as part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana.
