Know This: New Diploma Program Launched by DHA in Collaboration with University of Sharjah

Dubai, UAE- November2024- The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced the launch of a Professional Diploma Program for Health Facility Inspectors in Dubai, in collaboration with Sharjah University. This initiative is part of the DHA’s ongoing efforts to enhance education, training, and scientific knowledge among its staff, enabling them to carry out their duties in line with global best practices in the health sector.

The program, which spans ten months, aims to strengthen the professional competencies of DHA employees in the fields of inspection and regulation of health facilities. It will equip participants with the necessary scientific knowledge, skills, and experience to perform their job functions with high efficiency, professionalism, and ethics, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of healthcare service quality provided to the community.

Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at Dubai Health Authority (DHA), emphasised the significance of the newly launched Professional Diploma Program, which aligns with the authority’s vision represented by its Medical Education Department. He reiterated the DHA’s keen interest in investing in its human resources by introducing specialised professional programs and diplomas in collaboration with educational institutions in the UAE. This initiative aims to support and develop the health sector while ensuring the sustainability of improvement processes. The goal is to keep pace with global developments and provide safe health services to the community according to the highest standards of quality and excellence.

Dr. Wadeia Mohammad Sharif, Director of the Medical Education and Research Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), underlined the significance of the newly launched Professional Diploma Program. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the DHA to enhance community health and safety, as well as the quality of healthcare services provided to residents. The program ensures that health facilities in the emirate comply with global standards, protocols, and practices.

Dr. Wadeia highlighted that the diploma program focuses on several key topics related to health and environmental inspection, occupational health and safety, legal regulations, disaster management, and health crises. Additionally, the curriculum covers biostatistics, pharmaceutical control, professional ethics, communication skills, health education, document examination, and the preparation of inspection reports. The program also addresses pathogenic microorganisms and infectious diseases.

Faris Al Mazmi, Director of the Clinical Audit and Control Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), highlighted the authority’s strong commitment to enhancing the professional competencies of its staff, including health inspectors who play a vital role in monitoring the quality of services provided by various health facilities in the emirate.

Furthermore, Al Mazmi stated that the launch of this program in collaboration with Sharjah University represents a significant step in supporting the DHA’s strategy for continuous education and training, keeping pace with global developments in the medical field. He pointed out the multiple topics and aspects the program focuses on, which actively contribute to enhancing inspectors’ capabilities to address evolving challenges in health inspection amidst the increasing investment in health facilities within the emirate.
