It’s easy to silence the child’s tantrums and bawling, by handing over a phone. But, how often do we think of the repercussions of this new norm?
A study confirmed that excessive screen time can seriously affect children’s long-term development.
In this digital era, it is extremely difficult if not impossible to cut off the devices from children’s reach. So how do we deal with it?
Experts recommended no more than one hour of high-quality programming per day. Make sure you control what they watch, and give them an educational experience.
Lock devices into specific apps and give them fewer choices to consume from, but make sure it is quality content.
Treat digital devices like junk food. Little is okay, but too much is too bad. It impacts their mental development too.
Instead of using devices to occupy or calm them, replace them with playtime. Encourage interactive play, arts, crafts, and reading.
What children value most is parental attention. Show your love by spending family time and using simple tools or apps to manage screen time.
