The UAE is strengthening healthcare cooperation with the United States across genomic medicine, digital health, artificial intelligence (AI) and specialised care, following a high-level delegation visit to leading institutions in Boston and New York.

Led by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, the delegation included representatives from Emirates Health Services and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. The visit, held alongside the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, explored opportunities for joint research, training, innovation and advanced healthcare.

In Boston, discussions with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute focused on genomic testing for early cancer detection, while Boston Children’s Hospital explored cooperation in rare and complex paediatric conditions, genetic screening and physician training.

The delegation also discussed digital health, AI and integrated care with Mass General Brigham. In New York, meetings with NewYork-Presbyterian and Mount Sinai covered specialised care, research, physician exchanges, oncology and advanced therapies.

The UAE is also exploring healthcare leadership training with Johns Hopkins and visiting-physician programmes with US institutions. Follow-up plans will focus on translating the identified opportunities into defined cooperation and implementation programmes.
