Dr. Manal M. Younus

Dr. Manal stands as a leading expert in pharmacovigilance in the Middle East, working at the Ministry of Health, Iraq as the Director of the Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Center. She finished her PhD in clinical pharmacy at the University of Baghdad, Iraq 2015. She has been a fellow of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) since 2021 and in 2023 she finished a fellowship in patient safety. She received a Diploma in pharmacovigilance from the International College of London in 2022.

Dr. Manal, with over ten years of experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety, has worked with the ISoP, the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote the safety of medicines and vaccines and patient engagement across the world, and worked with the International Academy of Public Health’s (IAPH) to promote effective strategies, policies, and interventions to prevent the spread of drug-resistant infections and safeguard public health.

She is an expert in different pharmacovigilance aspects, such as regulations, risk minimization, and signal detection, as well as pharmacovigilance systems and inspection. Furthermore, Dr. Manal has authored many articles, is a reviewer for many international journals, and is an associate editor for the Journal of Pharmacovigilance and Drug Research.
