Dr Anas Hamad

Dr Anas Hamad is a regional leader in healthcare, with a diverse career covering clinical pharmacy, medication safety, health economics, research, education, and healthcare management. He currently serves as the Director of the Pharmacy Department at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Qatar and as the Head of the Medication Safety and Quality Center within the Pharmacy Executive Office of Hamad Medical Corporation. His work in these roles is dedicated to ensuring safe and effective medication use, particularly in cancer care while improving quality and safety standards.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Anas plays an important academic role. As an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Practice at Qatar University, he is committed to shaping future pharmacy leaders and contributing to academic research. He is also involved with the Qatar Red Crescent Society, where he chairs the Standing Committee on Medication Services and serves as a member of the Medical Affairs Committee. Moreover, he holds the position of Vice President and Director in the ISPOR Qatar Chapter.

Dr Anas’s academic journey began with a BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Jordan, followed by a master’s degree in clinical pharmacy, International Practice and Policy from the University of London. He later earned a PhD in Clinical Practice and Medication Use from King’s College London and completed an Executive Diploma in Health Services Management from GSM London. Additionally, he completed the unique Executive Leaders Program at Qatar Leadership Centre, conducted in partnership with prestigious business schools worldwide.

An active researcher and widely published author, Dr Anas has more than 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He serves as an editorial board member at the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and as a Review Editor at Frontiers in Oncology.

Highlighting his expertise, Dr Anas is an active member of the Institutional Review Boards at Hamad Medical Corporation and Qatar University and serves on Qatar’s National Clinical Research Review Committee under the Ministry of Public Health. His participation in various national and international boards reflects his deep dedication to advancing pharmacy practice, medical education, clinical research, cancer care, medication safety, public procurement, and health policy at both local and global levels.
