March 2026- The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East and confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation. Local teams are on the ground and responding as needs arise.

The IFRC is working with affected National Societies to support a timely humanitarian response as requirements increase. It has activated all levels of its network, from global to regional and local, to ensure coordination and readiness, including the use of its logistics pipeline and prepositioned humanitarian supplies.

In Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society has mobilized its network of volunteers, logistics units, medical services, rapid response teams, search and rescue personnel, and pharmacies across the country to deliver essential humanitarian assistance. Response teams have also been deployed following an attack on a school in Minab, Hormozgan province.

National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies across the region remain on high alert for any further response needs. The IFRC has called for the preservation of humanitarian space to ensure that humanitarian and medical personnel can operate safely and reach those in need.
