May 12, 2025 – On International Nurses Day, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, took a moment to acknowledge the dedication and tireless efforts of nurses who have been part of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for over 15 years. As part of his recognition, Sheikh Hamdan issued directives to grant golden visas for nurses, offering them long-term residency in the UAE.
Sheikh Hamdan expressed his gratitude for the nursing staff, emphasizing their critical role in the healthcare system. “Nurses are the backbone of healthcare,” he stated, “and they are integral to creating a healthier society. Their unwavering commitment to patient care and the well-being of the community is deeply appreciated.”
The golden visa is a 10-year residency permit offered to those who have made significant contributions to the country, possess high-value skills, or work in industries that are essential for economic growth. For the nurses receiving this honor, it’s not just about their professional expertise, but their compassion and dedication to the UAE’s healthcare infrastructure.
This announcement comes as Dubai hosted a nursing conference on International Nurses Day, organized by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Emirates Health Services. The conference focused on addressing the growing challenges of attracting and retaining new nurses in the face of a global shortage.
