Dubai, UAE– October 2024- The Excellence in Oncology Care Conference (EIOC) 2024 concluded recently at the Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai, running from October 11th to 12th. The event brought together global oncology leaders to share groundbreaking insights, foster collaboration, and tackle pressing challenges in cancer care. With research from the World Health Organization indicating around 20 million new cancer cases globally and 9.7 million deaths annually, the need for effective cancer care has become urgent. Projections suggest a 75% rise in cancer cases by 2050, further intensifying the burden on healthcare systems, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
EIOC 2024 aimed to address these critical issues through the involvement of over 30 specialized organizations, 200 expert speakers, and more than 5000 participants from the Middle East. The conference featured 14 scientific sessions focused on advancing oncology care through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Chairman of INDEX Holding stated: “This conference serves as the premier platform uniting a distinguished group of experts and specialists, offering attendees the chance to earn accredited scientific hours, thus further solidifying the UAE’s status as a leading destination in the medical sciences sector.”
The conference also featured discussions on emerging topics in oncology, including breast and lung cancer, genetic immunology, immuno-oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, and oncology nursing. A significant focus was placed on areas such as Head & Neck Oncology, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Immuno-Oncology, and Targeted Therapeutics. Sessions like the APMEA Molecular Tumor Board encouraged collaboration aimed at improving patient outcomes.
