Around 400 Dubai Police athletes representing 29 sports will take part in a new anti-doping awareness programme aimed at protecting athlete health and promoting clean and fair competition.
The initiative will also position participating athletes as ambassadors who can help spread awareness about the risks of prohibited substances and potentially harmful sports supplements among fellow athletes and the wider community.
The programme will be launched alongside the International Forum on Combating Doping in Sport, scheduled for September 17. The forum will bring together specialists from the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE National Anti-Doping Agency to exchange knowledge and strengthen understanding of anti-doping requirements.
Organisers said the timing of the initiative coincides with the start of the sporting season, when many competitions and sporting activities resume between September and October.

The forum will address three key areas: updates from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on prohibited and permitted substances and practices, the procedures and responsibilities of the national anti-doping authority, and potential risks associated with sports supplements.
Officials highlighted that athletes may sometimes use supplements without realising that certain ingredients could contain substances prohibited under international anti-doping regulations.
The awareness campaign will initially focus on Dubai Police athletes before expanding its message to gyms, homes, sports clubs and the wider community. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve athlete education and strengthen awareness of clean-sport practices across Dubai.t use.
