Cleveland Clinic has named Brian J. Harte, M.D., MHM, president of Hillcrest and Mentor hospitals, and president of the East Submarket of Cleveland Clinic’s Northeast Ohio Market, effective Feb. 1, 2025.
In his role, Dr. Harte will work closely with institute and hospital leaders to plan the strategic coordination of care and services that best meet the needs of patients in the East Submarket. He will also focus on enhancing patient, physician and caregiver experience in the East Submarket, which includes Euclid, Hillcrest, Marymount, Mentor and South Pointe hospitals, as well as many family health centers and outpatient facilities.

Dr. Harte has been with Cleveland Clinic for more than 20 years. He currently serves as president of Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Lodi Hospital and president of the South Submarket of the Northeast Ohio Market. For the past eight years, Dr. Harte has been president of Akron General and Lodi hospitals. Prior to his current role, he served as president of Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest and South Pointe hospitals and was the former chairman of the Department of Hospital Medicine and the Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Harte is a practicing hospitalist. He is past president of the Society of Hospital Medicine and was designated a Master of Hospital Medicine (MHM) by the society in 2019. He is also a delegate to the Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California and was in private practice for five years before joining Cleveland Clinic in 2004.
Dr. Harte replaces Richard D. Parker, M.D., who will be retiring, effective Jan. 31, 2025. An internal search will be conducted for president of the South Submarket of the Northeast Ohio Market and president of Akron General and Lodi hospitals.
