AD Ports & Burjeel Unveil
In a strategic move to reshape healthcare delivery across Africa, AD Ports Group and Burjeel Holdings have officially launched DOCKTOUR, a groundbreaking healthcare logistics joint venture, during the Make it in the Emirates forum.
The launch took place at Burjeel Holdings’ booth in the presence of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, and Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings.
DOCKTOUR aims to revolutionize how medical services and infrastructure are delivered across the African continent by integrating logistics, modular infrastructure, training, and emergency response into one unified platform.
“DOCKTOUR is about delivering impact where it’s needed most,” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.
“By combining our logistics strength with Burjeel’s medical excellence, we are building a practical, scalable platform to support resilient, community-focused healthcare systems across Africa. This aligns closely with our wise leadership’s vision.”
Backed by Operonix, Burjeel Holdings’ operations and management subsidiary with experience in large-scale healthcare projects, the healthcare logistics joint venture will leverage AD Ports Group’s infrastructure and extensive reach across 34 terminals and 247 vessels.
Through a logistics-led approach, DOCKTOUR will deploy container-based clinics, field hospitals, and permanent medical facilities to underserved regions. It also plans to implement advanced inventory and logistics systems, bridging service gaps while minimizing delays in care delivery.
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, stated:
“DOCKTOUR represents a new model of impact. It’s a full-spectrum platform that integrates advanced clinical systems with logistics capability and operational scale. Our aim is to bring care, along with stability, readiness, and partnership, to the regions that need it most.”
Aligned with the UAE’s humanitarian vision, DOCKTOUR will enable rapid emergency medical response, support local capacity-building through clinical training, and engage in long-term health programs—including maternal care, immunization, disease surveillance, and mobile health education.
The venture will also explore establishing medical offices across AD Ports Group’s African operations to support medical tourism, healthcare logistics services, and evolving health system needs.
As Africa’s population grows and Sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP continues to rise, both organizations see this initiative as critical to strengthening healthcare access and enabling sustainable development.
