Burjeel Cancer Institute has introduced therapeutic radiopharmaceutical treatment for patients with certain types of metastatic tumours, expanding access to precision oncology and advanced nuclear medicine services in the UAE.
The therapy uses radioactive medicines that target specific receptors on tumour cells, delivering radiation directly to cancerous tissues while limiting exposure to surrounding healthy cells. Treatment plans can be tailored to the biological characteristics of individual tumours, supporting a more personalised approach to cancer care.
The treatment is delivered through the Nuclear Medicine Department at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi, with support from a multidisciplinary team of nuclear medicine physicians, medical oncologists, medical physicists, technologists and radiation safety specialists.
