Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), part of M42, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai (RIT Dubai) to strengthen health informatics skills among healthcare professionals. Announced at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026, the collaboration aims to connect academic learning with practical healthcare challenges and the growing use of data and digital technologies in clinical practice.
The partnership will begin with an accredited 12-credit Micro-Credential in Health Informatics for ICLDEC staff. Approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, the programme will equip participants with skills to apply data and digital technologies in healthcare settings, using operational and technology challenges from clinical practice as learning opportunities.

Dr. Mai Al Jaber, Chief Executive Officer of ICLDEC, said: โAs data and digital technologies play a greater role in healthcare, our teams need the skills to use them effectively in their day-to-day work. This partnership gives our people access to structured health informatics training that is directly connected to the challenges they encounter in clinical and operational settings. It will help us build capabilities that support better decision-making and care delivery.โ
Under the agreement, ICLDEC will contribute clinical and operational insights, while RIT Dubai will provide academic expertise, learning resources and facilities. These real-world healthcare challenges may also be developed into student projects, allowing RIT Dubai students to gain practical experience while exploring potential solutions to issues faced by healthcare teams.
Dr. Yousef Al Assaf, President of RIT Dubai, said: โThe UAEโs healthcare future depends on professionals who are as comfortable with data and digital tools as they are with patients. Through this MoU, RIT Dubai will bring its applied, technology-driven approach to ICLDECโs teams, starting with our accredited health informatics programme, which will help participants find innovative solutions to real problems encountered in their own work. It will also keep our case studies anchored in the day-to-day realities of healthcare and give our students the chance to tackle challenges that matter in Abu Dhabi and beyond.โ
