Burjeel Holdings has introduced AI-powered catheterisation laboratories (Cath Labs) at Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi and Burjeel Specialty Hospital, Sharjah, expanding access to advanced cardiovascular and image-guided procedures in the GCC.

The new facilities use Siemens Healthineers’ ARTIS icono.vision platform, which combines artificial intelligence, high-definition imaging, 3D visualisation and real-time procedural guidance. The technology is designed to provide clinicians with enhanced views of complex anatomy while supporting minimally invasive interventions.

The Cath Labs will support multiple specialties, including interventional cardiology, structural heart services, vascular surgery, interventional radiology and neurointerventional procedures. Procedures supported by the facilities include complex coronary interventions, structural heart treatments, peripheral vascular therapies, embolisation and advanced aortic repairs.

“In complex interventions, having a clear and accurate view of the anatomy throughout the procedure is critical. The new system gives us enhanced imaging and guidance when navigating challenging cases, while also helping us manage radiation and contrast use. The system also features AI-based image analysis that can reduce background noise in real time while maintaining image quality at lower radiation doses. This may help clinicians manage radiation exposure and contrast use during complex procedures.

At Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi, the new facility has doubled Cath Lab capacity, allowing the hospital to manage more procedures and expand its advanced cardiovascular services.
