Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) has launched an integrated multidisciplinary Lupus Clinic in Abu Dhabi, offering coordinated, patient-centred care for people living with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The clinic brings rheumatologists, nephrologists, dermatologists, neurologists, haematologists and other specialists together, allowing patients to receive comprehensive assessment and treatment planning in a single visit.
The clinic also provides specialised support for women with lupus who are planning a family, including pregnancy planning, maternal-foetal monitoring and blood clot management. The model aims to improve early diagnosis, reduce delays in treatment and minimise the risk of long-term organ damage.
