The hospital recently administered the treatment to a 51 – year -old Emirati patient, who has since shown remarkable improvement, highlighting the life-changing potential of this groundbreaking approach. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement and significantly impacts a patient’s quality of life. While oral medications are the standard initial treatment, their effectiveness diminishes over time, leading to ‘off periods’, and symptoms return unpredictably, leading to involuntary movements caused by fluctuating medication levels.

Notably, all patients in the advanced stages of Parkinson’s are eligible for it. Unlike oral medications, which can lead to fluctuating absorption and inconsistent symptom control, this approach provides a steady, around-the-clock infusion, ensuring more stable symptom management.
Additionally, post-treatment follow-ups are significantly reduced to once every six months, compared to the frequent monitoring required after DBS surgery, making it a more convenient long-term option for patients.
